Missionaries to West Africa
1984 - 2007

Isaiah 6:8 ". . . Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I send me . . ."

We are the Morgan’s, Larry and Linda. We were both born in 1948. I was saved in Sept. of 1957 during a Sunday morning service at the Central Baptist Church, Tyler, Texas, where I grew up. I was called to preach at in 1962 at the age of 14. I was 14 when I preached the first message at the Central Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas. My wife and I were married in June of 1967 at Central Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. We graduated from the Baptist Bible College in December of 1970.

In 1988, while working with the Calvary Baptist Church in Athens, Texas, God called us to West Africa and specifically to Lagos, Nigeria. We spent ten years working in that city. Because of corruption and evil men, it was necessary to move to different locations and restart the mission three different times. However, God worked in spite of these evil men and we are thankful.

In 1999, after organizing the Independent Baptist Church in Festac, Lagos, we were led by God to move to Takoradi, Ghana, West Africa. We moved across 5 African borders to that place and the Independent Bible Baptist Mission was started. There are many wonderful blessings to speak about and burdens which involve the lost souls of the men and women of Ghana. God has opened many doors.

By September of 2002, the mission in Takoradi was averaging 350 in attendance. We have three other preaching stations with the desire that one day churches can be established in each location. In three short years God has given us the following ministries:

  • MISSION IN TAKORADI
  • 3 OTHER PREACHING STATIONS
  • 4 RADIO BROADCASTS EACH WEEK,
  • A HOME FOR GIRLS,
  • A LARGE CORRESPONDENCE MINISTRY,
  • BUS MINISTRIES,
  • EDUCATIONAL CLASSES WHERE WHERE FOLKS ARE TAUGHT TO READ ENGLISH SO THEY CAN READ THE BIBLE
  • BIBLE INSTITUTE CLASSES ON TUESDAY AND THURSDAY EVENING FOR SIX HOURS
  • CLASSES ON WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY MORNINGS FOR FIVE HOURS.
  • THERE ARE FOURTEEN MEN ENROLLED IN THE BIBLE INSTITUTE.
  • A CORRESPONDENCE MINISTRY WHERE MANY FOLKS ARE TAUGHT THE BASIC TRUTHS OF THE SCRIPTURE.

Our desire is the will of God and our purpose is to be a blessing. The many open doors and opportunities are stressful and tiring. There are so many letters with only one request and that is for us to come and establish a church with the preaching they hear on the radio. These open doors are blessings but they also weigh heavy on us as we are unable to meet each request at this time. The heavy burden is because each open door represents so many who need to be saved. It is for this reason we would like to expand the radio ministry and, if God provides, establish a radio station to reach the Western Region of Ghana.

In Christ,

Romans 10:14,15 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
